A Summary of Your Career in Advanced Work Packaging and WorkFace Planning
Step One in your Career Development - PICC Level 1 Planner
Our first step in developing this pool of professionals is to provide low cost access to first level certification. We believe it is important to the Industry to grow this base of motivated professionals quickly. We want to ensure that individuals with the PICC brand are recognized for their potential and can get out on projects immediately to gain further experience working on an Advanced Work Packaging Team. All PICC Level 1 Planners are encouraged to join the Association of Professional Planners to get started on their Professional Planning Career Path.
Step Two in your Career Development – PICC Level 2 Planner
PICC Planners who want to advance their career can move on to Level 2 Certification. This involves an investment in your own Professional Development and in the strengthening of the Association as a whole. Level 2 Planners can be counted on to participate at higher levels of responsibility and accountability within their planning teams. They are the motivated individuals who are looking to develop into Planning Leads and Managers, and who will be helping to guide and mentor future Planners.
To become a Level 2 Planner, you must be a Member in Good Standing of the Association and have participated in the Association MERIT Program by earning the required Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s). These credits confirm that you have completed Leadership and Management skills training, worked on Communication and Collaboration skills, participated in Mentoring and Networking Events, contributed to PICC development and enhancement sessions, and other items as required. Certificates from PICC Approved programs which you have already earned can be applied toward your Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s), or you can choose from PICC Approved Vendors listed on the Association site. There is no additional exam for Level 2 Certification, but you must demonstrate a commitment to your individual growth, the growth of the Association, and the promotion of AWP as the most promising approach to much needed Industry Improvement.
Step Three in your Career Development – PICC Level 3 Lead
PICC Planners who want to advance to Leads must demonstrate the same continuing commitment to Career and Association Development by remaining Members in Good Standing, and advancing through the MERIT Program with Continuing Education Credits geared towards higher levels of Leadership and Responsibility. They must have measurable experience as a PICC Level 2 Planner, and achieve a minimum passing mark on the Level 3 Certification Exam.
Step Four in your Career Development – PICC Level 4 Manager/Auditor/Champion
PICC Planning Leads who want to advance to high level Professional Planning Managers must demonstrate the same continuing commitment to career and Association Development by remaining Members in Good Standing, and advancing through the MERIT Program with Continuing Education Credits geared towards higher levels of Leadership, Responsibility, and specialized Management Training. They must have measurable experience as a PICC Level 3 Lead, and achieve a minimum passing mark on the Level 4 Certification Exam.
By committing to this development model, you will help establish PICC Certification as the recognized Industry Standard, and distinguish yourself as a valued Planning Professional.
